Fernando Enrique Alvarez is an Argentine macroeconomist, he is currently an Adjunct Associate Professor of Finance and Economics at the Columbia University Graduate Business School, where he teaches entrepreneurship finance. From 2003 to 2008, he was associate professor in the Finance and Economics Department and director of entrepreneurshi.
Fernando Alvarez has also presented a new estimate of the welfare cost of business cycles, which is based on observed asset prices (with Urban Jermann). His other work includes models of monetary economies with segmented markets and search models with incomplete markets.
