The interim budget did not disappoint rural India much. There is some announcement made which support farmers on an income basis on somewhat levels. The government needs to worry about "where will the food come from?" it depends on us to ensure that they earn an adequate income to support the family.
PM-KISAN Yojna is a historic announcement in recent budget for providing assured income support to small and marginal farmers, secondly an unintended benefit would be the government will get a streamlined land record at once.
Another announcement for the department of fisheries is also welcome. We are the second largest fish producer in the world, and it provides employment to 1.5 crore people. The financial ministry has pointed out its importance.
Uncontrolled factors such as fall in commodity price, natural calamities etc makes farming business very risky. Government's proposal for granting interest for the farmers affecting by severe natural calamities during the entire period of rescheduling of loans is appreciated. However, this budget will not solve all the woes of farmers but the goals set in this budget for rural India will provide a clear direction.
